Kiki negotiating her Pennsic plans.

So the good news- I got all my actual goals for Pennsic done in July! The bad news- due to mundane life, I had to make the decision to not attend Pennsic the day before I planned to leave. I am so bummed to not have the chance to test out all the camp prep that I did in June and July, but it was the right decision.

The blue saya was a fun make, and I’m looking forward to having a chance to wear it at my next event. It’s a good, comfortable, casual fit, and goodness knows that’s never not necessary in Atlantia. I did not get the couched embrodiery done, because I had decided to save the fingerloop braiding for my Pennsic project, but alas. I unfortunately don’t have any pictures, because I haven’t worn it anywhere yet. Alas.

I did also get my Encapsulating Your Wardrobe class done in time. Since I’m not attending Pennsic, I did decide to submit this class for teaching in person at Fall University. I’ll be able to bring my Hispano-Roman wardrobe as a capsule wardrobe petting zoo and that’ll be load of fun, I think. Also at Fall University I’ve been asked to teach an in person class on SCA blogs and the technical aspects of maintaining an SCA website. This’ll be part of a track for The Oak, and I’ll be happy to revisit some of the concepts from my Electronic A&S documentation class.

And since I can program this to publish after it’s been given out at Pennsic, I got to do my newest apprentice sister’s apprenticeship contract! These are always such meaningful projects for me, and I love having new people in the household. Svana’s contract is in the Book of Kells style I did a while back, with designs from her persona appropriate apprentice belt in the middle. This one is a personal favorite of mine for these, because Svana herself wrote the text and it feels like a collaborative project with one of my household members, which I do always love. I also got to mess around with some new style elements on this contract, including colored inks.
